Hi Jason,
Gosh, that’s a task, there have been so many in my life as I read so much and really take on board what I feel is important to help me to change my perspective and live the fullest life possible.
I guess most recently one thing that has had an impact is something from one of the Harry Potter books when Dumbledore says to Harry that there comes a point when we have to make a choice between doing what is right and doing what is easy.

Wow that makes me think a bit! Just recently I attended a conference in Macau China I had arranged to meet a colleague there and we had planned on doing the world’s highest bungy jump 360 metre off a tower in the middle of the city.
My colleague never ended up coming to the conference so it was left to me to complete the jump. Each day at the conference I kept coming up with a multitude of excuses why I couldn’t do the jump. The last day there, I had run out of excuses.To cut the story short I sprung off this massive tower and it was one of the best experiences that I have had.I felt like a bug in a jar with all the Japanese tourists clicking their cameras at me!
The lesson out of this was that each day I procrastinated I felt absolutely sick with worry, but when I actually did the jump I wondered what I had worried about. I guess the lesson is that many things in life are no where near as bad as we think they are like the logo says Just Do It!

I have a similar experience when I did a double-sky-dive before in Saipan Island years ago.
Been through the same emotion as you, just that I was already on the plane with coincidentally,
2 Japanese Tourist who were on the same plane as me.
I was thinking to myself : “What the heck do you come here for?”
Well, did the jump. It was Aaaaaaawesome!
Never regret. Especially when I couldn’t even do a of bungy jump now with a health condition.
Just Do it! Just Do It! A million dollar slogan that will works wonder in life if you walk the walk.

Is actually my own quote – but whenever I get a little stressed or feel down, I have friends remind me of what I’m always preaching to them ….
And it really helps to refocus on enjoying all that life has to offer!
We get so involved with trivial things – it’s only when something negative happens that we realize we should be enjoying every minute of being here!
Once we lose someone for example – wouldn’t we give up all the material things we could ever worry about to have another year or month or week with them??
So I personally like to be reminded that I should be passing on a passion for living rather than stressing over the next few dollars

I used to work on demolition site as a top man and when i saw people slacking i would quote:

When i’m struggling with something and think of giving up this quote comes to mind:

Jason, my favourite at the moment is
“You don’t get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate”
It does sound very harsh in some circumstances but it can also be very inspirational when you stop and consider what really is possible with a little bit of negotiation.
For example, you will recall the matter where a paperclip was swapped all the way up to a house. Did he deserve a house? Probably not. Did he negotiate using a novel technique? You bet.
Try it in your own tough circumstances next time you have the opportunity and see where it takes you.

Loved the post. I have so many of these “gentle reminders” around my house. They are there to “remind” me to stay in the right frame of mind…and to remind me that I must be constantly aware of where my head is…

I used to be quite sporty in my younger days and highly competitive…
I used to run the 400 metres, reasonably well, and when I hit the 300m bend and the pain used to kick in my coach would always yell
- ‘second place is still first loser’ – or ‘come on Steve, we don’t do losing’..both of which have stayed with me since that time.
I live in the UK where the general population seem to love the guy who doesn’t ‘quite’ make it…which drives me nuts

I am talking about soccer here.

You’ve made me realise something Jason, I haven’t got an inspirational quote.
I HAVE got a book that has inspired my business life; “The Lazy Man’s Way to Riches” by Joe Karbo.
However, I’m a runner and agree with Steve’s comment. I have never liked the British attitude to sport of “It’s the taking part that matters, not winning”.
So my favourite quote is American (I think), “Show me a good loser, and I’ll show you a loser.”

Most folks don’t realize that just thinking & remembering thoughts alters our biological DNA, veritably building our brains neuron by neuron as we “imagine”.

Hi Jason,
Yours is an inspiring story. I don’t really have any one favorite saying, it’s more like I have one and then another, they come and go.
What had the most impact on my life so far have been the things that other people that I respected highly said to me.
At an early age a school teacher encouraged me to sing and praised my shy attempt to do so which lead to projecting my voice with more confidence and being a member of several choirs after that and a singer a few bands.
Until that encouragement I believed, as my previous school teacher encouraged me to believe, that I couldn’t sing.
On another occasion the 100% believe in me of another person made me believe that I could accomplish something which I really desired but thought was impossible until that firm believe in my ability to do so was expressed by this highly respected man.
That believe helped me achieve it.

Is a great quote your mum had gave you and I thank you so much for passing her wisdom here to me and other who have a chance to learn it here.
English was a very difficult subject that I hated because it wasn’t my 1st language for my 1st 6 years of education. I was forced into taking it as a 1st language during a education reform from the government of my hometown. I was actually one of the very 1st batch of “guinea pigs” for that.
Now I a so thankful for that “mishap” in life. Even though I still have much to learn to improve my English, I am blessed with a Bi-lingual Background to stay in the beautiful island of Taiwan easily.
English are difficult until it become easy.

When my life was turned upside down a few years ago I saw an amazing picture. The picture was of a waterfall. Calm water above, then suddenly turning into a raging, violent, torrent before being thrown over the edge of the waterfall into a tranquil lake far below.
We can move through life with everything seemingly calm and in control then, in a matter of seconds, something completely unexpected and life changing can happen which can bring us back to reality with a bump and make us realize the fragility of life. As we sit confused and bewildered asking “Why me?” looking at a new depressing and dark future it is difficult to see anything positive ahead. The words below the picture which inspired me said something like “In life what seems like the end is really a new beginning”. My life had changed forever; but it had not ended… I was just starting a new beginning. It was a future so completely different from my past… but it was a future to claim as my own as I learned to adjust to my new life.

I can completely understand and empathized what you had gone through when you went through the shift of perception from this quote.
Behind this simple quote you shared here comes with different meanings according to different circumstances of each different person.
Yes, I am not afraid to admit, Life did not become all up with no downs after I decided to pursue my dream when I read Paulo’s Life Defining book.
It was just 5 years ago when I almost gave up everything I ever believe when I hit rock bottom from almost every aspect of my life.
Knowing a inspirational quote like this when things are all smooth and successful is really easy. The most challenging part is how we can use it during the worst times of our life. But the reward is if we can pulled it through, that quotes will be amplified with More Power with your real life experience added.

Could it have been that when you read that passage in the Coelho book you had already prepared yourself to understand its meaning? (Oops! I sounded almost wise, didn’t I?)
But it could have been…
When I was interviewed for my first -and so far, only- job, I heard myself saying to my future boss that “I wanted to be in peace with myself”. I don’t know where I got that one from or why it popped out of my mind, but I certainly have realized after some 20 twenty years that I’m still after that… and maybe I shouldn’t be.
Perhaps my defining phrase is actually an anti-inspirational one!

At work, I found a copy of the National Geographic from 1999, inside there was a story about the caves of Borneo and the pot holers that were mapping the area.
Their leader when asked how they felt about all the dead ends and frustrations they had endured and whether their mission would be a success, simply said:

I would not say I was inspired by anyone to do what I do, but rather a life test for me to actually see what I can achieve what I set out to do!
A long time ago (my boss at the time) called me inept, which hurt me immensely at the time. So I guess when I get a little down and feel I want to quit, I think of that moment and smile to myself safe in the knowledge that I’m not inept at all and will continue to succeed at what do.

Is amazing because I had just visited your blog and left a comment there. Really Good Info you provide there.
To be honest, I wasn’t born as strong as you to simply believe in myself. My faith was built over time with a fair share of success , failures, challenges and struggles to overcome.
Around Nov last year, my boss stripped away my Sales Job function and wanted me to focus on Marketing instead, which actually means administration stuff as my Company don’t believe in marketing. Is a “political” decision rather than management one. He persuaded me and say that I am BAD at sales, never seeing the fact that I had doubled my sales figures with above average profit margins for that year. Moreover, the market I work on is a very tough one to break…The Middle East Region.
I oblige to his decision but my heart Never take a single pinch of his words at heart.
I am a Great Sales Person! I knew it then, and now, especially all my client still call me for help whenever they need a solution not only in their business dealings with that company I worked, but other matters in life , too.

I also found the Alchemist to be inspirational, a wonderful book ,I read it in one sitting simply could not put it down.
It was recommended to me by a property investment mentor Parmdeep Vadesha he is a highly successful man but at the same time retains his link with humanity.
Have you read \"The message of a master\" ?
There are so many inspirational quotes it is hard to chose one I think they are pertinant to the mood or situation one finds oneself in.

Vance Sova didn’t shared a quote buy shared an experience of a teacher who gave him the confidence to be more than himself during his youth. Is as powerful as any great quotes. So a slogan from Nike can be inspirational and powerful as well. Come to think of it, Just Do It! work for me as well for so many times .

I just happened to share something similar to what you wrote with a cab driver yesterday. I was telling him about my encounter with another cab driver who refused to wait for another few minutes for my friend to share the cab with me, because he felt that he is loosing more business waiting. Never realized that we are his business on hand.
I didn’t got angry as my friend and told him that, we never know what that driver had been going through. Perhaps he is really struggling so hard financially that had limit his mind to see the Bigger Picture because he is focusing only on the next business. Perhaps he got a big family to feed.
Is just a cab ride. Let it go and if possible. Pray for the guy.

I have been sitting here trying to work out what my favorite quote would be. There are so many quotes that make me stop and think and inspire me. A lot of them have been mentioned in previous comments.
Two that do come to mind are: ‘If it’s to be, it’s up to me’ and ‘Winners never lose and losers never win’, sorry I don’t know who wrote them.

In reading the quote I think I must be on the right track! Not only am I passionate about the new path I’m on, I find that the “next steps”, when I find myself stuck, are always laid out in front of me. They say that when the student is ready, the teacher will come. I have certainly found that to be true.
I started learning about Internet Marketing back in January of this year. I had slow progress at first and suffered from info overload but I’ve always been able to keep moving forward and I’ve never felt like giving up.
Now I have a GREAT Mentor, belong to several wonderful support groups, and am excited about that which is to come.

There are so many people I see getting caught up in many things that just “don’t matter!”
We need to keep life in perspective and not let all the small stuff get to us.

Life’s too short to lose your perspective on this. If you have your health and your children are healthy you have EVERYTHING!

And what you said is So So True regarding having a good health with yourself and your family.
I will GIVE UP everything if I could to go back in time when me and my parent were in good health. I would spend quality time everyday with them doing simple but meaning stuff with them.
It took me quite a while to let go of this wishful thought even as an adult now. But you know, every now and then, I still indulge myself on this idea.
Now I tell every people I know whenever I have a chance to do this so they won’t have to go through the painful regret I had been through.

Before I got serious about learning online marketing I was
afraid. Afraid it would be too hard. What if I couldn’t learn things? All silly reason when you think about it. It doesn’t even make sense why I was afraid. I have jumped in and gotten wet. I LOVE it!! I am learning how to shine and having fun. Yes, if I can do it, anyone can. I am meeting so many people who are so helpful and friendly. I am making all kinds of new friends.

Quotes are amazing things, so many people will ‘quote’ someone whether in everyday talk or in writing. I guess it is maybe that you seize on the words in your hour of need or maybe it is something that you have heard repeated over and over again.
I have 2 favourite quotes, one my Dad would always say no matter whether the event or circumstance was good or bad “Everything happens for a reason” .
The other comes from my years associated with the travel industry but is relevant to everything in life.

For me, it wasn’t a quote but more like a book that did it for me. It was when I was homeless and I went to the library every day. I read “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki and it changed the way I looked at things. I then became self employed and have worked at home for 8 years.

Hi Jason. Thank you for the reply, and the kind words. That is a very important assessment you made about learning the knowledge for free. The reason being is that I have come across many “scam reporting” websites where people go to complain that some guru charged them $8,000 of their life savings to teach them something, and then that person did not use the information because they thought it was an easy button and they were lazy. They then go and report it as a scam rather than taking responsibility for their spending actions. They could have easily went to the library and obtained that very same information. Rather than me buying the carlton sheets program from a late night infomercial, I went to the library and grabbed a book titled “nothing down” by Robert G Allen. From that, I was able to get a grasp on the idea of creative financing and leverage. It didn’t cost me $8,000 either, and I ended up buying a 5,000 square foot mansion for $40,000 with zero money down and 100% seller financed.

To see the spark of new understanding, whether it’s in someone else or myself… it is a real gift. Thank you again for sharing it.
There are many quotes and moments that have been pivotal for me. One in particular came to mind as I read your story. It’s a quote that either came from The Alchemist (perhaps my favorite story) or Immortal T. Slatton, which shares many similarities to The Alchemist. As I was reading, many snippets leaped off the page. I was learning & remembering on so many levels. It was beautiful and almost overwhelming. This one particular quote I did not write down so the wording may be a bit different. Here is how I remember it:
“A thing does not reveal itself to everyone from the same perspective”
For me, this provided an immediate understanding of our multidimensional nature. It’s why a book like The Alchemist can be read by countless people, and yet they all get different insights from it. This idea is what reminds me to witness the world rather than judge it. To reexamine things I’ve already explored to see what new perspective will be revealed to me. Total game changing moment for me.

Second: I LOVE Paulo Coehlo! His books are awesome I have read most of them. The most life changing for me was his book called “Eleven Minutes” I went through a stage in 2004 where i read a lot of his books. Doing this actually changed the course of my life and it started with ‘The Alchemist’, however it was “Eleven Minutes” that got me moving!
Re words for me: “Where there is a will there is a way” Whenever I get frustrated or overwhelmed or depressed about something I take a breather, re group and chant that saying as my mantra!! It works everytime!

This is what I had been experiencing, real life, real time a lot lately.
I used to get discourage when things did not work according to my plan. Or rather, when things did not work as fast as I felt it should. My “eyes” were opened about 6 months ago and sees something similar to what you shared here.That’s how my original humble little book I wrote now become a membership site. And all along, I kept my gratitude in tact.

I’m finally here
Great discussion. Despite reading so many things in my life, I haven’t really kept them in place, at least within until a few years ago. I kind of go into this in and out phase where I’ll internally take what I need and then go out there to experience it. Thus, quotes run amok and voices begin to take over. However, if I were to choose, ah, choices, it would be … dad’s advice.
‘I know who I am and what I do. I can’t talk about something I don’t know but I talk about something I know I can do, because I’ve done it!’
You see, my dad doesn’t speak English well. Living in the States, I’m the first generation here but he’ll tell me in his broken English these words as long as I can remember it since we’re very close now.
When he starts going into that flow, I always seem question my own ability because how can he, who doesn’t know much about the language do all that he’s done and yet I’m educated, lazy and have taken advantage of the system that I grew up with. Thus, this has shown me that I’ve failed to see what the true human spirit in work is and the purpose of which I could provide value. Thanks to dad, I personally have to prove to myself everyday, I’m worthy of my words.

I love what you shared here and I can almost have a vision in my mind how your dad said those simple but powerful words to you. Is so easy for us to forget what our parent had been through. I think there are two quotes that have remained with since my teens: Truth fears no questions. and The eyes believe themselves, the ears believe other people. I have never had to pay attention to these two simple thoughts since starting work on the internet!
In general I live my life by finding out first hand the information I need to know. Do you remember the telephone game you played in elementary school where you sit in a circle, the teacher whispers something in your ear – then you whisper it in the next person’s ear and so on and so on. The last person NEVER heard the correct initial whisper from the teacher! There is always something tainted with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th hand information it seems.

The 1st inspirational quote you shared is liberating.
The 2nd is kind of interesting to me, like a riddle which makes me think a little deeper. We didn’t play the game you said during my school days back in Singapore. But we do play a similar game during my service in the Armed Forces where our officer will whisper a message starting from the front of the line during our road march. The result was just like the game you played, there will be some form of added or deleted info from the original.
Your 2nd quotes also remind me of a quote from the Bible on Mark 8-18 which says… Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear?
Guess there are always some limit to what we see or hear. For what we see or hear may not always be the Truth. Sometimes it contain the hidden agenda from the other party; sometimes, is really us who refused or afraid to face the Truth ourselves.

What a great post, followed by some great quotes within the comments. I have spent far longer here than I intended, I haven’t finished visiting all the blogs on the Challenge yet!
I love inspirational quotes and it’s difficult for me to choose a favourite. In view of the fact that none of us know how long we are here for, I like to keep in mind quotes that encourage us to seize the moment such as:
Today is the first day of the rest of your life.
Life is not a dress rehearsal
Life is a no deposit, no return endeavour
Tomorrow’s life is too late. Live today.
And Jason, why on earth do you worry about your English? You write better English than a lot of English people!

Sadly I can’t think of one off the top of my head I tend to hear something and really like it – but then it slips my mind and I have to go looking for the nexe “great quote”.

I’m not sure what has driven me forward, but here’s the maxim I’m living into now: never say maybe – say yes or say no, be clear and decisive. Maybe hangs everyone up waiting for your decision. Just say it. You know whether you want to or not. Plus, your answer is accompanied by action that demonstrates your commitment to yes or no. I’ve hung out with my own “maybe” as well as too many other people’s “maybe”. What a waste of time! Don’t be afraid to commit one way or the other.

Hi Jason
This is such an inspirational post you create here. I loved to read all the inspirational stories and phrases from all the people that posted their comments.
During my life I tested a lot of things, I’ve been through a lot of phases and I can’t really remember one phrase that stays above the all others.
I think that in each phase of my life I found different phrases and all of them had a special significance during that phase.
Today I’m in my middle 40′s, with a lot of dreams fulfilled and a lot of dreams to fulfill yet. Some I can never fulfill no more, like “being financial independent at the age of 40″, lol.
In this stage of my life I have three phrases that I have printed and they are on my wall, near my computer. They’re in Portuguese, so I going to write here a free translation, maybe they are not exactly like this in English:
“Imagination is much more important then knowledge” – Einstein
“Anything is impossible until someone doubts and prove the opposite” – Einstein
“Those who never did anything are the only ones that never made a mistake” – Unknown

What I really mean is not to read the 3 books in a row, but rather, to read each book from start to finish.
I would personally go with [The Devil and Miss Prym] as it is the earliest creation from all 4. The Witch of Portobello, The Zahir and Eleven Minutes are the later creations from Paulo which he did tried some new approach and structure of his work.
However, do “follow your heart” to decide which one to start with. For your heart know best what you need now and here.

there was a saying that went like this and changed completely my life:
If you do what you want to do then ask three parts in your life.
Ask your mind, whether it has the desire.
Ask your soul whether it has the desire.
Then ask your body whether it has the desire.
All seems fine, but there is still one missing ingredient.
What kind of part of the body you should ask?
Ask your heart and when it answers with “YES” then you
are on the right way.
I have found this saying somewhere I can’t remember now. But I think that is originated and revised from a chinese proverb.
It is not the exact one, but it is the same meaning of the original one.
This was one of the sayings that let me made think of my whole life again. I think that the spiritual way is the origin of everything. Spirituality is for every man a place for inner peace.
We are all made of star dust.
(I asked myself how old I am? Yes, seems to be a ridiculous question. But by some influence I came to this answer:
4.5 trillion years. The universal mind was and will be forever.
In other words. We were all there with our minds and we will ever be. If not on earth then on another universe or planet.
When do you love something, let it free.
When it should come back, it’s yours – forever.
These were my three impressions I encountered in my life.
I used to be quite pessimistic and this has changed my point of view. Now it is going to be better from day to day.
Hopefully, this was an understandable glimpse of / through my life.

Like you, I always believe that our “heart” ( our spirituality) is the real boss of our life.
The mind is a great tool, the body is a vessel for us to experience life as we knew it. Most of us are confused between the voices from our mind and from our heart. It take little wisdom to tell the difference, which is something I hope to teach in my true calling project Some Kind Of Powerful.
